Proposal: Blood of the fallen

Cannot reach quorum without a vote being changed. Failed by Josh

Adminned at 10 Jul 2010 13:56:52 UTC

Add a new rule to the ruleset, entitled @‘s Blood:

Whenever an @ kills another @, they may increase the enchantment on one weapon or piece of armour in their inventory by 1.

An incentive for the climbers to get the Amulet quickly, before the fracas on floor 1 gets too serious.

against for obvious in-game reasons. Also, a single @ could go around and kill all of the not-really-participating @s (like dbdougla) and rack up a ton of enhancements.

@lilomar - There are a few active @s on level 1, now. I think that the advantages will be spread out. Also, for obvious reasons, there’s a strong incentive for an @ on level 1 to dominate; I suspect that the turnover down there will be quite choppy.

This reminds me, dlvl 1 is almost out of active encounters (there’s just the one orc left now). Some more hordes, please, Bucky?

CoV for after consideration.

against Clearly designed to get all the dlvl1-ers to kill each other and pave the way for a Josh/lilomar/Galdyn victory. Besides, this doesn’t have the desired effect, as it’s unlikely that someone would repeatedly kill other @s on dlvl 1 and yet not move onto a further level; and such a serial @-killer would probably be taken down by other @s for self-preservation reasons.

@ais - I disagree with your analysis. Firstly, pking doesn’t increase kills, and thus can’t help an @ move off of level 1. Second, without some substantial buffing, no-one on level 1 can really prevent one of lilo, Galdyn or myself winning- with our current armours and your current weapons, killing any one of us before we escape with the amulet would be tricky. This is intended to make things harder for the front-runners, not easier.

@Josh: Your armour and weapon are only marginally better than mine, and I only just started participating in the dynasty. Your only real stat that would make you harder to kill than a starting-out @ would be your current HP, and that isn’t amazingly higher than mine. Remember that if you step onto dlvl 1 with the Amulet, everyone there would be trying to kill you. You’d be taken down in no time.

I was really thinking more of Galdyn. I myself only entered the dynasty halfway through, and entertain no real hopes of winning. Galdyn’s armour, however, is substantially better than mine, and he’s much closer to the prize. If he gets back to level 1 on full health then it’ll be a much closer fight.

I agree with Ais here, while my stats and equips (armor only) may be significantly better than anyone on dlvl 1 if they all attacked me at relatively the same time i dont see how i would be able to survive very long. Especially since in order to win you have to find stairs, a person with the amulet would have to spend a significant amount of time on dlvl 1 before being able to win. Enough time to rack up a few kills. And if killing other @s when they attack you does not add to your kills than it will take some time before you will be able to get to dlvl 0.

Yet at the same time im not sure how this would pave the way for a victory of previously mentioned parties. Because even if dlvl 1 turns into an @ killing bloodbath there will still be enough @s there to kill one of us, unless you time it right between respawns. which isnt possible considering the amount of time you need in order to get the kills needed to get to dlvl 0

Further argument AGAINST - Due to the delay between respawning and choosing a class, respawning @s are easy pickings for those looking to rack up PKs.  The first @ to a +9 weapon gets to go infinite on enchantments.
