Proposal: Breaking the Mirror

Add a subrule to “The Island” named “The Kevan”:

The Kevan is a state of fortune, a psychic trap, an unlucky number. Any and all numbers chosen randomly by Castaways at The Kevan are instead defaulted to 1. A Castaway may not remove their name from this rule unless they also add an extra 2 to their Date.

As a Date Action, a Castaway at The Kevan may spend 4 SP to add another Castaway’s name to the list of Castaways in this location.

Castaways here:

Kevan rolled six 1’s in a row for wood, less likely than to roll two critical fails in a row on a d20. I thought we might honor that feat with some old fashioned, last-lap sabotage fun!  }:D

against Not a huge fan of how this might interact with “A Castaway is at a Location if their name is listed in the last paragraph of that subrule.”

against per Kevan. Also, I think it sounds fun in abstract terms but don’t think spending 4 SP to send someone there makes sense theme-wise.

[pokes] Could be read as making your own story less plausible by tapping into the weird psychic energy of the island, particularly if your victory hinges on it - that you can’t say “and then I went into a trance and trapped Brendan in a phantom prison for two full days” when a chat show host or biography editor quizzes you about what exactly happened.

Fair enough. I was definitely taking a right turn from theme toward function.
