Proposal: Bringing in the Cadets

Append this text to the rule “Institutions”

Training Camp: When a player influences the Training Camp their total number of marines is multiplied by 1.2, this new number, rounded up, is the number of marines added to the player’s total number of marines at the beginning of the next cycle.

This is a way to increase the number of marines you currently possess if you have any at the time, once a few cycles have passed this will help take the pressure off of the other institutions that give marines.
Note that any marines directed towards the training camp are lost.

against I like the idea, but the wording is confusing. Suggested revision:

When a player influences the Training Camp, at the beginning of the next cycle, they gain 1.2 * N (rounded up) marines, where N is the number of marines they had when they influenced the Training Camp.

against Encourages marine hoarding. I would prefer something which increases marines for people that don’t have any.

against I think marines should be a very limited resource.

against At first I thought it was a 20% increase and was probably voting against. Then I reread it and saw it was a 120% increase…

@Clucky: If you multiply a number by 1.2 it is a 20% increase.

[Patrick] But that number is then “added to the player’s total number of marines”.

@Kevan: That was a mistake, thanks for pointing that out guys.
It was supposed to read:
“is the player’s total number of marines”.

Would people like a rule like that? Keep in mind that for the most part a player would only get 1 marine from this institution (with the wording in this post).

against I read the current wording as “When a player with 100 Marines influences the Training Camp, they gain 20 Marines and, at the beginning of the next Cycle, they gain another 120 Marines.”

Besides, what does “total” in “their total number of Marines” mean?

Patrick:

@Koen: That is what the current wording states, it was my mistake. The total number of marines is the number of marines they possess.
