Proposal: Circuit Breakers
Enacted 7-1—Ienpw III
Adminned at 26 Sep 2021 16:09:33 UTC
Add the following rule, called “Electricity”, to the Dynastic Ruleset:
If this rule is not at the bottom of the Dynastic Ruleset, any Citizen may move it there at any time.
The Breaker Panel is a publicly tracked list of Currents and their attached variables. There exist eleven Currents, labeled respectively by the letters A through K. Each Current has a Breaker, which is either a single Floor of Earthlink Tower or blank (defaulting to blank).
If two or more Currents’ Breakers are the same Floor, that floor immediately becomes Shorted Out, and all Currents cease to have that Floor as a Breaker.
The list of Floors that are Shorted Out is publicly tracked. A Floor that is Shorted Out cannot become the Breaker of a Current. If a clause in a Proposal would make a Floor that is Shorted Out the Breaker of one or more Currents, that clause has no effect.
If Proposal: Gamestate is Gamestate was enacted, add the following subrule, called “Breaker Access”, to the rule “Electricity”:
If this subrule is not at the bottom of the rule Electricity, any Citizen may move it there at any time.
A Proposal which would modify the status of any Currents and/or their Breakers if enacted is Unpopular if any Citizen is both occupying this Zone and has a valid Vote of AGAINST on that Proposal.
in addition to the elevators’ electrical difficulties, most of the floors on the tower are blacked out!! we only have enough voltage to power a precious few, so we ought to make it count. the benefits of powering a floor are pending.

I love this. The concept of using the ruleset as a gameboard is exactly what I was going for.
pokes:
“If two or more Currents’ Breakers are the same Floor, that floor immediately becomes Shorted Out, and all Currents cease to have that Floor as a Breaker.”
The Shorting Out seems like it must be a permanent property of a floor, since otherwise the currents ceasing to have that floor as a breaker would un-short it immediately, but other effects rely on tracking Shorted Out. In which case, can it be explicit and be tracked somewhere?

@pokes it is explicit & is tracked in a list as stated in the rule?
@brendan “that easy” is currently uncertain as we haven’t seen anybody move floors yet, and as more rules/zones get added to the game it will become progressively less n less easy anyway!
