In “Nosy Researchers”, replace “As a daily action (which can only be performed when no Challenges are pending, and preferably within the hour following midnight UTC or as soon as possible thereafter)” with:-

If the Behaviour Log has at least one entry, and if for each AI that has an entry in the Behavior Log their earliest entry in the Log was added to it more than 12 hours ago, and if no Challenges are pending

In Executive Measures, replace “(which can only be performed after performing the atomic action outlined in “Nosy Researchers” for the day)”:-

(which can only be performed if the atomic action outlined in “Nosy Researchers” has been performed earlier that day)

Under the “soon after midnight” rule, players have a strong incentive to perform all their actions as late as possible in the UTC day, to reduce the window that other players have to react to that information (and this is exactly what’s happening, with one AI’s well-timed actions actually colliding with the Facility Head’s processing last night).

is it intentional that this makes it no longer a daily action? it could slow down the game but i can see how it’d be worth it if we wanna avoid the issue u outlined. that said, it would turn the atomic action into something i would be able to do less consistently, especially on mondays n tuesdays, since i would have to be checking the wiki history semi-regularly instead of relying on an alarm and some convenient openings in my schedule :0

(also, u should add to this proposal a fix to the wording in “executive measures” that says one can only be done after the atomic action outlined in nosy researchers)

I think 12 will end up being probably too long, but I’m FOR as-is.

Executive Measures issue fixed. And yes, there would be some trade-off between reliable daily actions and how quickly the game runs. I’d personally rather play a slightly slower game (even if that’s one action every two days) than one where everyone is under pressure to stop doing whatever else they’re doing and perform a game action at 11:59:59pm UTC.

12 hours might be on the slow side, I’m just going with the basic heartbeat of BlogNomic, where we have 12 hours minimum to respond to a DoV or proposal before it passes.

is there really much reactionary gameplay going on here?

something else this does that could have a negative side effect is encourage players to try and get their actions in as soon Lemon does the action, in order to maximize the likelihood that no other player happens to do something in the next 12 hours.

maybe the proper solution, if we’re really worried about reactionary gameplay, is to go back to making the action log private?
