Proposal: Combining Nouns

timed out popular 4-0 with 1 def enacted by card

Adminned at 18 Sep 2017 19:09:13 UTC

Make a new rule “Making Sentences” with the text

A prince can spend 1 stamina to combine 1 noun or sentence in their inventory and 1 adjective, noun or sentence that is in their inventory or in the current location of the Katamari, separated by a space, to create a sentence. If any of the words or sentences used in this action are in the prince’s inventory, they are removed. The new sentence is added to the prince’s inventory when this action is taken.

In a sentence an adjective must come before a noun.

Add a new rule “Sentence Effects” with the text

The adjectives big, enormous, large, huge or massive doubles the effects and costs of the nouns described in the inventory rule for the noun that they proceed in a two word sentence.

The adjectives small, tiny, minuscule, microscopic or mini halves the effects and costs of the nouns described in the inventory rule for the noun that they proceed in a two word sentence.

Change “The Prince carries between zero and six items, instead of just zero to three. The Prince cannot have more than 10 Stamina at any time. ” to
“The Prince can carry up to 3 extra items. The Prince cannot have more than X - 4 stamina where X is the maximum stamina a Prince can have.”

I would be on board with this, but there is no way to add adjectives.

yeah there is, “1 adjective, noun or sentence that is in their inventory or in the current location of the Katamari”

which could be “1 adjective ... in the current location of the Katamari”

[card] You’re misunderstanding the problem I have with this. Look at this excerpt from “Inventory”:

Each Prince has an Inventory… which contains between zero and three items…. Each item is one noun.

There’s no rule in the current ruleset that allows anyone to add adjectives to their inventory. This rule, if passed, would be the only mention of adjectives in the ruleset.

Yes, you could argue that in the proposal, it was mentioned that you could use adjectives from the location of the katamari, but there still stands the point that it was mentioned the adjectives could come from the inventory. This is unfulfillable because it’s impossible to get adjectives into the inventory in the first place.

I like the idea, but you really should’ve amended the rules “Inventory” and “Pushing”—or at least the former—where they said “nouns” to “nouns and adjectives” thereby allowing nouns, adjectives, and sentences to occupy a place in the inventory and/or the katamari.

Is a noun different than a sentence? If so then a sentence can’t be in a person’s inventory anyway.
