Proposal: Credible Threat

Reached quorum and passed, 6-1. Josh

Adminned at 05 Dec 2013 00:18:38 UTC

For each Oligarch who has had their Power converted to Credibility by another Oligarch, using the rule “Credibility”, undo the effect of that conversion.

In the rule “Credibility”, replace “Any Oligarch may convert Power to Credibility at a rate of 5 Power to 1 Credibility.” with:-

Any Oligarch may convert their own Power into Credibility at a rate of 5 Power to 1 Credibility.

Although that’s essentially an in-character vote, as I’m generally averse to using proposals to roll back legit scams.

A scam that can be rolled back is just a wasted scam. You either need to keep it small so that only a minority object to it (if Clucky had just dinged a rival’s Power and proposed a no-more-abuse-while-this-is-pending fix, I imagine it would have stood), or keep it up your sleeve until you can use it to win the game.

Although that’s not to say the latter might not be happening…

I wouldn’t say its a wasted scam. It successfully put everyone at very little power, which means they are at the same level as me (minus the whole way up in credibility). This encourages people to be more friendly to proposals that give people more power.

Was Josh’s +200 power scam “wasted”?
