In the rule “Punishment”, replace “A Machinist whose name is in this list may not perform any dynastic actions.” with:-

A Machinist whose name is in this list is Incarcerated and may not perform any dynastic actions. If a Machinist has performed a Crime in the previous 24 hours and is not Incarcerated, a Machinist who inhabits the same Megasystem as them may pay 1 Valve to add the performer to the Lockdown list, listed at 2 Days.

Replace “may Trade in the Flea Market” with:-

may Trade in the Flea Market (although this is a Crime)

Replace “create a piece of Graffiti” with:-

create a piece of Graffiti (although this is a Crime)

Replace “may Salvage the megasystem they inhabit” with:-

may Salvage the megasystem they inhabit (although this is a Crime)

why would trading in the flea market be a crime?

I don’t like this, practically makes it so that half of the dynastic actions lock you out of the game for 2 days. i’d support some sort of suspicion meter or maybe even making punishments scale up/down with order, but so far, this is a no for me

I don’t know, it’s currently a subsection of “Crime & Commerce”.

The actions don’t automatically lock you out of the game, another player has to decide to voluntarily invoke the rule; possibly having to waste a move chasing you first, and undoubtedly resulting in a grudge.

(Being in Lockdown for two “Days” may also be as little as ten hours, in practice, depending on when the Passing Time actions happen.)

I don’t like how easy it is for one Machinist to block another in this way. Moving to the same Megasystem as another Machinist and invoking this before they moved away isn’t that hard. It could be done back-to-back within a few minutes and would not result in a chase. The penalty imposed isn’t balanced with the effort it takes to impose that penalty.

I recommend that you create some new judgement mechanism. Maybe a randomly-selected “jury” of Machinists decides? I know it will be hard with the character limitation, but an Event might do the trick. Start the idea, and we can flesh it out.

I don’t have time to optimise a meaningful iteration within the character limit, so I’ll add “pay 1 Valve” to the cost of arresting someone, since Valves do nothing yet and are perhaps part of the city’s communication system.

Ok, maybe once I get a free slot, I’ll give it a go, depending on how the votes trend on this one.

imperial the Flea market oughtn’t be a crime, but i think it should be fine to pass this and propose some tweaks later on.

for
It makes sense to me that the flea market is a crime since mostly what you’re buying and selling is literally stuff that dwellers shouldn’t really have access to anyway. It veers towards in-universe embezzlement and trading in stolen goods.

I’m fine with this rule being improved going forwards since sure a lot of things are illegal, but the rule can be made more detailed in the next proposals. We’re going to need some system to put people in lockdown anyway, and I doubt it’s possible to make a complex system like tracking guilt just using 400 characters from scratch.
