Proposal: Divine Edict

1-5.  Cannot be Enacted w/o CoV.  Failed by Excalabur.

Add a rule to the ruleset named “Divine Edicts”:

The Archon may make an Edict by making a post to the front page that has the title “Edict: *” where ‘*’ is the title of the Edict. In an Edict, the Archon may decree that certain game Rules (except for any rule defining the powers of the Adversary) apply only in particular circumstances or contingencies. The texts of these Edicts supersedes the Rules in the ruleset in order of precedence.

The Archon may lift an Edict at any time by posting notice to the front page.

I am aware that there is potential abuse / favoritism here. We had similar mechanisms in the last Dynasty that I ran (a dynamic ruleset, actually), and this is markedly more tame.

“And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness that in heaven above, or that in the earth beneath, or that in the water under the earth…”  Exodus 20: 1-17, King James Version

Do I get to play too?

Now that you’ve commented on it, no. But you can draft your own proposal with Archon replaced by Other, if you like.

Though if you did so we’d have to be careful about the Edicts, as one of us could just suspend the Edict rule if one promulgated an Edict that the other didn’t like.

Actually, as long as your proposal has the same clause about your Edicts being void on the Archon’s powers, I think that we’re good.

against This is pretty much a copy of a rule that was in Aaron’s Dynasty. Granted, it affected proposals rather than rules, but I’d like to avoid repeat rules.

I would vote for this if the Other had a chance to Veto, and if there is a simple way to show which rules are in effect in the ruleset.
