Proposal: Economic Planning

3-2, timed out. Enacted by Saurik.

Adminned at 24 Dec 2005 12:22:18 UTC

Add an Action named Trade:

Trade: A Protagonist (hereinafter known as the Requester) may often make a request to switch eir Item Held with another Protagonist’s (hereinafter know as the Requestee) Item Held, even if either Item is a null value. This request must be made visible to all Protagonists. If the Requestee accepts the trade request within 24 hours, the trade takes place and the ItemHeld fields of the Requester and the Requestee are switched. If the trade request is rejected, or is not accepted within 24 hours, no GNDT fields are changed. Untradeable items may not be given to other Protagonists in this way.

imperial I don’t neccessarily consider this a problem yet (although I haven’t thought it out fully), but how does one make such a request? If the questions are asked:

Did Cayvie request a trade with AgentHH: Nothing for a Fire Marshal Recruit Flyer?

Did AgentHH accept the aforementioned trade?

Is there an unambiguous way to determine the answers? Would the trade fall under serious scrutiny if a Call for Judgement were rendered?

I’m all for unofficially storing game state, but in my visions all that state was caused by other game state that was still operating within the Rules. It didn’t apply to Protagonists deciding “now I’m going to do X” (yet, I haven’t proposed this possibly still not working Rule that would allow this… maybe I should just Propose it to see what the reaction to what it is so far is… it’s not like I’m currently Proposing a lot of other things…).

I agree that the methods behind this could be a little clearer. The stipulation that it must be made visible to all Protagonists is what worries me. Does visible to all Protagonists mean on some publicly accessible space that is extremely obscure? On the wiki? As a blog post? How does one determine whether such an action has been taken?

imperial As a command in a thread, I’d suggest.

Does it bother anyone else that, by voting imperial (RoV: 2-0-5), we are pretty much saying “I will defer to 75ths decision” on this Proposal, but if he never votes, and _everyone_ (except the author) votes imperial (RoV: 2-0-5), the Proposal gets Enacted? Would it make more sense to change the text on imperial (RoV: 2-0-5) to indicate that if the Narrator doesn’t vote, all imperial (RoV: 2-0-5) votes become against (CoV: 2-1-4) or something?

I agree with Saurik here.

against , unless 75th steps in.
