Call for Judgment: Fix for Assassination

Reached quorum 6 votes to 1. Enacted by Kevan.

Under the rule “Successors”, add the subrule titled “Assassination” as it was described in the proposal “Crime and Punishment”.

Additionally, if the proposal “Advanced Blueprints” has been enacted, add the following row to the table of Tracts in the rule “Estates”:

Gardens | The Palatine of this estate may reduce their stress by up to 4.

against As a player who voted against the original proposal (and it did only pass with a tight 3-2), my preferred route forward would be to leave the ruleset as it is.

Desertfrog is a new player. I do think its probably better to avoid using CfJs to fix mistakes in your own proposals, but it also doesn’t hurt

A proposal misfiring, and the group deciding whether and how to patch that, is always part of the game. The fact that four players failed to vote in time on the original Assassination proposal (one of those being another new player) makes the issue more nuanced than just applying a simple fix.

If this had been raised as a plain second proposal, it would be odd for me to reason “well the previous version timed out 3-2 which means the group was slightly in favour of it, so I’ll just vote for it this time”.

If a plurality of players vote in favor of a proposal and it ends up not having the intended effect due to an oversight that no one noticed until it was too late, I think that warrants a urgent attention, otherwise it’s just slowing the game down for something that was supposed to happen anyway. However I am voting against because I actually just forgot to vote against the original proposal, and also I don’t see what adding that tract has to do with fixing the original mistake.

Ok I just realized why the new tract is related, so never mind on that point.

for CoV to keep things moving now that all meaningfully active Heirs have voted.
