Add a new Rule entitled “Food matters” to the Ruleset with the following text:

All monks suffer from hunger if they go too long without eating.  Eating, and its effects, shall be described by the subrules of this rule.

Add a subrule to the new Rule.  Call it “Eating” and give it the following text:

If a monk is carrying an edible item, e may Eat it by posting a comment to the GNDT.  Eating an item destroyes it, and may have other effects, listed with the item in the “Reagents” rule.

Add a subrule to the new Rule.  Call it “Fasting” and give it the following text.

Monks may Fast by creating a post to the blog containing the phrase “I’m Fasting for” and a time span.  Fasting Monks may not Eat.  In addition, a Fasting monk loses 20% of eir Fitness per day (round to nearest), and when they would set their Moves equal to twice eit fitness, they set it to eir Fitness instead.  E may, however, add 1 to eir Integrity.

A Fast ends when the specified time span has elapsed or eir Fitness loss would be 0.

With this definition, a Monk can fast and hold a Vow at the same time for 1.5 times the Int gain.

After this passes, the Abbot shall modify the Reagents list to make Eating a useful action.

Uh, when may a fasting Monk add 1 to eir Integrity?  That’s not clear at all.

And that last sentence…. Hasn’t the Abbot got enough to do already?

“With this definition, a Monk can fast and hold a Vow at the same time for 1.5 times the Int gain.” :  It doesn’t matter that this is in italics… it’s still part of your proposal.

Very interesting, but the language needs a little tightening. For instance, the line:

“In addition, a Fasting monk loses 20% of eir Fitness per day (round to nearest),”

Might not be interpreted quite in the way that you expect. I’m not disposed against the idea, though.
