Proposal: Food Brings People Together

In the rule “Innovation”, add the following row to the table:

| Societal || Community Food Banks || 1 || Indoor Gardens || When Gathering, any time you perform a random selection that results in a Consequence that would cause you to lose Food, you may re-roll that random selection, but only once for that step of that instance of Gathering.

 

If you invest in the “gardens” Innovation branch, you have a better chance of avoiding Food loss during Gathering, though it’s still possible with some bad luck.

this seems like a very narrowly-applicable thing to be 2 cost with a prerequisite! it could easily be 1 cost imo.

also, i think “re-roll” might convey what (i think) you’re going for better than “re-perform” — as is it seems like u might just get a second random consequence? :0

I was worried that you might be against another way to avoid Food loss!

I edited the cost and changed “re-perform” to “re-roll”

nah, it’s not that i think we should all be losing food all the time — i just think that food loss being a real threat, and us having to navigate around that provides some good gameplay tension! so “we can lose lots of food but have interesting ways to mitigate that” is exactly what i’d like :0

Speaking of costs, do you think the cost of “Improved Shields” in my other proposal is too high? It also has both a prerequisite and a cost of 2. I have a little bit more time to edit it.

i think that one’s fine — it’s a lot more broadly applicable, so it makes sense it’d be costly!
