[ We’ve got an invisible non-rule floating illegally around from here - we should write these things down. ]

Enact a new rule, “The Oubliette”:-

Rodlen may not post a Declaration of Victory.

Any Henchman may repeal this rule after 16:36:36 UTC on the 25th of April 2008, or after the First Dynasty of Purplebeard has ended.

against Yes, he is banned from posting DOVs from that proposal; however, there should be a time limit on the ban rather than the repealing of the rule.

This puts way too much power into the hands of users with a wiki pass.  A wiki admin can simply ban Rodlen from the wiki, then the rest of us can just not repeal the rule, ever.  And, viola, Rodlen can never again achieve victory.

The Piranha Tank proposal didn’t ban him, because proposals can only “change the Ruleset or Gamestate”. If you want to say that someone’s behaviour is limited, it needs to be a rule rather than an assertion that everyone has to remember.

Maybe I should have worded it as “cannot declare victory before time X”, but I don’t think we should get too paranoid about “any player” clauses. Even if every wiki user was stonily against Rodlen claiming victory, a simple “hey, repeal that rule, guys” proposal would be enough to break it (and if a majority voted it down, they might as well gang up and propose “Rodlen may never ever win”).

Why did I do that?

good thing my evil proposal didn’t go through; it would’ve been doubly (and unintentionally) evil

Ok, scenario 2:

Someone wins before this rule is repealed.  In his ascension address, he repeals all dynastic rules except this one and changes the terminology so that “henchman” is not defined anywhere.  He then proceeds to veto any proposal that tries to repeal the rule.  Rodlen’s fate is held tyrannically in the hands of one person.

But, then again, no one could possibly win in the next 24 hours….

I doubt that is something we will do. Yes it is possible, but I don’t think that it is going to happen. How often did similar rules (player x can’t win) occur in the past?

Ornithopter:

When you win, you don’t get to redefine words. You replace every occurrence of “henchman/men” and “overlord” with terms of your choice, so the rule would then read “Any cabbage may…”.

Besides, if a majority of players want to do something that keeps getting vetoed, they can use a CfJ, which isn’t vetoable.

Sorry. No time to enact this right now. I’ll get it in about 8 hours if no one gets it before then.
