Proposal: Here comes the Lynchman to lynch off your head

Reached quorum 7 votes to 3. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 05 Feb 2015 13:52:39 UTC

In the rule entitled “Emotions”, change “A Crewmember may also have zero or more Conditions, which are tracked as if they were Emotions. Valid Conditions are Disabled and Injured.” to:

A Crewmember may also have zero or more Conditions, which are tracked as if they were Emotions. Valid Conditions are Injured and Disabled. If a Crewmember’s Condition Worsens, and they have no Condition listed in the GNDT, they gain the Condition Injured. If a Crewmember’s Condition Worsens, and they have the Condition Injured, they gain the Condition Disabled. If a Crewmember’s Condition Worsens, and they have the Condition Disabled, then no effect takes place.

Add a new rule to the ruleset, entitled The Airlock:

Each Crewmember can Mark up to one other Crewmember. This is tracked in the GNDT.

If a Proposal is enacted that includes the phrase “Flush the Marks”, then the procedure for Flushing Marks should be followed as detailed in the bullet points below:

  • The enacting Admin shall, at the time of resolution, send a private message to the Ship’s Computer notifying them that this procedure has been initiated. The Ship’s Computer should then follow the remaining steps of this procedure at their first opportunity.
  • The Ship’s Computer examines the subroutine queue for any M4RK subroutines.
  • The Ship’s Computer evaluates which Crewmember carries the most Marks, and Worsen their Condition. A Crewmember carries a Mark if they are the subject of a M4RK subroutine that is currently in the subroutine queue or if they are named as another Crewmember’s Mark in the GNDT. If there is a difference between a Crewmember’s Mark as listed in the GNDT and the the subject of a M4RK subroutine signed by that Crewmember, the subject of the subroutine is considered to be that Crewmmeber’s Mark. If there is a tie between the Crewmembers with the most Marks then no Crewmember’s condition is Worsened as a result of this process.
  • The Ship’s Computer removes all M4RK subroutines from the subroutine queue.
  • The Ship’s Computer makes a post announcing that the Marks have been Flushed, specifying the identity of the Crewmember whose Condition was Worsened, if there was one.
Add a new subroutine to the list of subroutines in the ruleset:
M4RK - Threshold: 9 OI. This subroutine has no effect.

against I’m a bit cautious about means of offing that could just as easily be coordinated by the androids as us, or, quite possibly, even easier.

I honestly don’t understand that particular hesitation. The entire point of a Werewolf/Mafia/Resistance game is to foment fear and suspicion between players as we get picked off one by one and then turn on each other to exact revenge. The benefit of doing it via Nomic is that those players still get to participate, by proposing and voting and any other Cerebral actions we come up with. We’re two weeks into the game and we don’t even have any injured players, much less any disabled ones or even a sabotaged mission. Did we all sign up to play in a horror movie without any horror?

This is sort of the point. Without some impetus to act, we’re not playing a game of any kind, we’re just sitting here until we all get bored and stop playing. There are, what, maybe two Androids? And calling for the lynch is a public action, and any underhandedness can be easily exposed with other subroutines. It’s hard to think how this could be made any safer without making it completely anodyne.

against since we can each have only one subroutine in the queue at a time, which only moves forward less than once every 24 hours. This would more or less jam the queue against the humans’ interest as necessary self-defense.

Although it can easily be throttled through proposal approval, but then it’s just like an uncertain Trial shortcut.

for per Sylphrena, + I must have read it wrong earlier - I don’t see that grammar problem anymore.

If Kevan is the enacting admin, does he have to send himself a private message?
