Idle me

As a consequence of the previous Wheel spin (which gave me a 50% chance to catch up with the leaders, thus was worth trying), I’m now too far behind to have much of a chance in this dynasty, and don’t find it much fun to play when I don’t have a serious chance of winning.

BlogNomic takes up quite a bit of my time when I’m seriously playing it, and given the current gamestate, I’d therefore rather allocate my time to other things.

Please idle me.

As a side note, this is the biggest problem with BlogNomic’s “periodic resets” model: if you can’t (or are unlikely to) get the win or the mantle, you have absolutely nothing to aim for, and thus there’s not any point in actually playing; when the next dynasty starts, you’ll be in exactly the same situation as you would be if you’d played continuously up to that point. So there’s no incentive to do anything but idle.

You’re idled, quorum is still 8.

One solution to that would be to somehow incorporate performance in previous dynasties into the selection of the Emperor, which could be used to award doing well but not best.

You can also just group up with enough players to change the rules to your favor (although with so many players rn, I don’t know how easy that could be), or wait out for a scam to pop up or engineer one.

I’ve been in your situation before and it’s not all that bad tbh. The “wait for a scam” thing is low-effort too.

Sometimes there’s satisfaction in making a game that works, ya know? Like, in the long run, a BlogNomic that can have fifteen concurrent players and twenty proposals in a day is good for me, not in terms of winning perhaps but in terms of having something fun to do. Much better to support this than watch it go back to five players and quietly wonder whether it’s coming back this time.

@Josh

Yeah, I generally make proposals and run game play independently. I try to make a good game, and I try to play the good game well. Exploring the concepts is at least as entertaining as trying to win.

But everyone is different, plays for different reasons, and finds different dynasty directions unpalatable.

Ah, there’s always room for scams and kingmaking and revolution among the lower-scoring players. Sorry to see you go, see you in a future dynasty or for a future scam in this one.
