Add (or amend, if it already exists) an entry for “may” to the list of Keywords as per the following:

synonymous to “can” (note: “may not” means “can not”)

It’s how we’ve been using it for the most part and as suggested in the long-overdue Imperative Rework (have them both mean the same):

against Describing two different English words as “synonyms” without giving a single unified definition for them seems like a bad idea.
