What better thing to change with my first ‘real’ proposal than the Core Rules?

Proposal: Amend section of 1.2, “Corporations” which currently reads

and then making a post announcing their arrival.

to instead read

and then making a post announcing eir arrival, including what name ey want for eir Corporation.

Additionally, amend the section of 1.2, “Corporations” which currently reads

A Corporation may only change their name as a result of a proposal approving the change.

to instead read

A Corporation may only change eir name as a result of a proposal approving the change, except when establishing eir Corporation for the first time, wherein eir name should be established upon joining the game (i.e., in the player’s introductory post).

against Perhaps you are misunderstanding something, but a Corporation’s name is the same as the username you chose when registering at blognomic.  “Corporation” is simply the current word for the name of us players, and will change to a new, theme-appropriate term next time the theme changes (which usually happens every time a Declaration of Victory passes).

If you intended this proposal to concern the (for lack of a better term) “company names” that are seen when looking at the Inventory wiki page, please note that those are purely there for flavor reasons; they are not mentioned anywhere in the Ruleset, nor are they part of the Gamestate.  As such, feel free to invent your own company name if/when you add yourself to the Inventory page.  In fact, you could even change it as often as you like, since it’s not regulated.

Even if they were considered part of the Gamestate, they’re clearly only part of this specific Dynasty, and the Core Rules would not be the correct place to make rules about them.

against Hix is right.  Also, I don’t want spivak creeping back into the core rules.

Ah ha.  I see and understand.  Consider this a self-kill.

Actually not a huge fan of spivak either, really. Just making sure what the overall consensus was.

“Ey” isn’t even Spivak.

But apart from that, this raises a good point - if we’re regulating name changes, why aren’t we regulating initial name selection?

You mean that you, as an admin, don’t regulate initial name selection?  If some new player joined up, registered as “The Government” (this is, of course, 100% hypothetical), I’d be wary of adding [th]em to the sidebar.
