After some discussion and a lot of hacking around, the IRC channel is now back in the sidebar, and updated every few minutes; it’s just a tiny iframe, if anyone wants to design around it (I did try it reading it straight into the template with PHP, but EE dutifully caches it until the main page gets changed, which isn’t helpful).
I’m still having to host the Java IRC applet on my own server, as some aspect of blognomic.com upsets it when I try to host it here.
okay so, got that but now, is there anyone still semi-active that can get us registered in the server? my account expired so yea.
err..I mean, get us registered with OPs in the channel like we used to have

The source I was scraping from was lagging behind; I’ve found a better one now, which includes player names.
My IRC knowledge is too rusty to remember how OPs and things work, I’m afraid. Elias?

Anyone can drop in and use the IRC chat, even non-players. You don’t need to register for anything.

Reload to fix the latter (I was tinkering, and the server defaults to “you must have meant the main page!” for 404s), not sure what the former means.
Elias, Not auto opping, if you get a chace we should look into that.
Elias, if you get a chance, can you set access 30 to be auto voice? That way we can confirm identities on people registering their nicks?
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
The game has been running since 2003 and resets every month or so. Have a look around the wiki for more information and history. New players are always welcome and can join in the game at any time.
