Knighthood request (for Bayushi)

Of course I only notice the newbie guide (and its mention of having to request Knight-hood) after I vote.  I wish to become a Knight.  (I also wish to be informed whether I need to repost those votes after this happens.)

You do, as they are not valid until you become a knight.

Welcome! I do believe you need to repost the votes, sorry.

(Quorum stays at five.)

The rule needs cleaning up, but I don’t think votes need to be recast, since “A Knight’s Vote on a Votable Matter is the last valid voting icon that they have used in any comment on that Votable Matter.”

“Each Knight may cast one Vote on a Votable Matter by making a comment to the Official Post that comprises that Votable Matter using a voting icon.”

He wasn’t a Knight, so his vote was Ilegal. As far as I remember, idle people also have this problem (if they don’t unidle first).

Bayushi’s attempt to vote was illegal, and no vote was “cast” when the icon was posted. But when Bayushi joined the game and became a Knight, their vote on that proposal “is the last valid voting icon that they have used in any comment on that Votable Matter” - there’s no requirement that this comment was made while they were a player.

It means that the vote exists, it just never had the action of “casting” undertaken for it. This only becomes marginally relevant when a proposal times out (“more valid Votes cast on it are FOR than are AGAINST”), but doesn’t affect the rest of the proposal process.

Well, the part “is the last valid voting icon” is still not convincing me. That voting icon was never valid to begin with (I agree that it exists, but it was ilegal, be it the “vote” or the “casting”), so the it can’t be their vote.
