Proposal: Let Speakers do their jobs

Self-killed. -RaichuKFM

Adminned at 06 Aug 2016 15:23:26 UTC

Add the following text to the rule “[SPK] First Speaker” after the list of a Speaker’s duties:

A Speaker for a Dynasty may modify its page as necessary to perform their duties.

If a majority of EVCs on this proposal contain the word “Overtime”, change “4” to “5” in the rule “Finish Line”.

Note: This Dynasty has lasted forever already.

I ask of anyone other than Bucky why, in any serious capacity, letting either Bucky or I win later is actually any better for you than letting me win now. Because, in all likelihood, that’s all this EVC clause would do.

Overtime. I’m still having fun with this dynasty

against Would vote FOR were it not for the EVC clause.

I’m kinda enjoying having a longer, slower-paced dynasty than normal.  This dynasty doesn’t have a lot of the common long-dynasty problems.

The actual game that these rules have all cohered into is… largely nonexistent? There’s the Cellar, Bathroom, Scriptorum weekly dance, and things with Apocrypha, but that’s about it.

I pulled a scam to have a ridiculous amount of Paper, and as a result, Paper is nigh useless. Energy is practically a nonissue, because there are few places one really has need to go to; Stress doesn’t go up fast enough to change that. Looks are a cornered market by now, Offenses have mattered all of once, Proxies haven’t see any use since that scam, Ruleset Theft has yet to do anything.

The Official Position, Scoring, and Mapping game has run its course just now, and artificially prolonging it will only leave a stale, short game of Bucky and I jockeying to be the first to get a fifth Score in, won’t it?

for Thinking about it, I might as well vote FOR and just not EVC it. If my Proposal passes, this is irrelevant; if it fails, Speakering should be functional, moving forward.

In retrospect I feel like compressing all the seperate resources we’ve had into one (looks often) or even removing them outright, for the sake of “not cluttering the GNDT” might have been an overall detriment to the game. The chaos of having so many resources could have made this much more diverse and interesting. Ah well, this was a good learning experience in the end. No more lottery rules for me probably in any event.

Larry’s coup attempt prevented me from properly endorsing this proposal:

As such, to reward the scribe which made that proposal…

I disagree with RaichuKFM’s assessment of the dynasty.  The nature of Apocrypha means that, if the dynasty lasts another two weeks and Brendan is on the ball, we likely will pick up a couple more scoring conditions in the meantime.

I also have a couple of planned proposals that would make other locations relevant, that probably won’t pass before the end.

Finally, if you have lots of paper, it’s on you to propose good uses for lots of paper.  I ended up proposing more paper sinks than you did, and you voted down the one (Bigger Maps) that would have caused me actual Paper scarcity.

against  because this proposal doesn’t do what it says it does; some interactions with Historic Tomes mean the Scribe modifies the history page’s Manuscript, but since the rule doesn’t reference a single history page the automatic update to point it to the manuscript does nothing.  So the scoring condition checks the main document, which is protected by Historic Tomes.

I don’t have an easy solution right now but I’ll try to put one together tomorrow.
