Call for Judgment: Unscammy Final Bowl

Reaches quorum 4-0. Enacted by pokes.

Adminned at 20 May 2017 16:35:27 UTC

Append to “Endgames”

The final bowl matches rolled in the GNDT that include the along with the rolls the text “Final Match” are the rolls used for the overseeing of that match.

Subsequent Final Bowl matches rolled for the same manager pairing are not to be used for the overseeing unless the dice were calculated incorrectly in previous rolls.

currently Cuddlebeam is manipulating matches by timing out the overseeing action on GNDT rolls they don’t like.

against  I see no reason to keep changing the rules after we have agreed to them.

My previous plan was to just do the Timeout thing once and post it as example that I “could do it”, but ever since I’ve gotten to Time Machine you, I only need to get Sphinx to win ONE point below their expected average to win, and I win (you’re no longer a concern, and before I would’ve very likely needed to roll a fuckload to actually get the results. But now I don’t).

Expected Point gains:
Sphinx vs Card: 2.35 vs 10.65
Matt vs Sphinx: 1.87 vs 11.12

Sphinx needs 21 Final Points to win. Their current expected average is 21.77

I just need to skew that a little bit to just 20, and I win.

Sphinx vs Card: 10.65 vs 2.35*

Although I might just be unlucky so I’ll just surrender to Sphinx in 12 hours.

PSS: changing the rules after we’ve already agreed to them is literally the point of nomic.

I’m okay with this happening once. It’s not particularly creative because this scam is on the wiki’s laundry list of things to fix, but it’s valid. Don’t get to egregious with it though Cuddlebeam.

The “intentionally ignoring dice” scam is hard to fix though. Maybe ignoring dice should go in the Fair Play section? Again, fine by me right now.

This isn’t that though, I’m timing out my Atomic Actions.

“I see no reason to keep changing the rules after we have agreed to them.”
Are you sure you know what game you’re playing?

Oracular rufio:

I would patch this by saying that if the same atomic action performed by the same person has timed out three times in a certain time period, it cannot be attempted again for several days or a week.  Gives some time to get through a CFJ to resolve the situation in some way.

pokes:

19-05-2017 20:27:26 UTC

It isn’t literally that, you’re correct, but it is spiritually that. Also, you’re not performing atomic actions “as quickly as possible”. Although what did I expect? When have you ever done things the Ruleset says you “should” do?

Madrid:

I have the URL which allows me to post Blogposts on Parental block for an hour and only my girlfriend has the password, which she’ll only let me have if I get good roll.

Madrid:

I did intentionally put myself into this situation though, but there isn’t anything stopping me from intentionally starting Atomic Actions which I know I can’t complete, even if I attempt to, “as fast as I can”.

Cuddlebeam, is that a joke?

Also, I know the game, but I mean after a short-term process has begun.

This “short-term process” seems to be taking Cuddlebeam hours.

The whole point of CFJs is to resolve disputes and take immediate action on things.  Are you going to vote against every CFJ because you think immediate action should never be taken?  Just say you’re voting because you want Cuddlebeam to win and be done with it.

Oracular rufio:

19-05-2017 20:49:42 UTC

Actually, you know, we could fix this by just making the final bowl itself an atomic action.

card:

19-05-2017 21:01:13 UTC

Then Cuddlebeam will just time out the Final Bowl.

Oracular rufio:

19-05-2017 21:03:38 UTC

Sure.  But if they do that, they will then have to roll the entire thing over again, and they probably won’t have the patience to keep doing that until they get an entire final bowl that is exactly perfect.
