Add the following as a subrule of “Tier 5: Hypersquid Sonic Waveform Ocean” called “Waveform Resonance”:
As an Existential Action called Resonance Testing, a Mindjacker may privately message the Ascendant with a number of Symbol Names up to their Potency and a request to see the resonance information of the name(s). As soon as is practical after receiving the message, the Ascendant shall respond with the following information for each Symbol Name in the message:
* Whether it is the Symbol Name of an existing Avatar.
* If it is the Symbol Name of an existing Avatar, the current Home Tier and Occupancy Tier of that Avatar.Immediately after responding to a Resonance Testing message, the Ascendant shall increase the Suspicion of the Mindjacker who sent that message by 1 for each Symbol Name in that message that was not the name of an existing Avatar.
here’s a way to privately test whether an avatar you’ve discovered is viable for Mindjacking! however, it gives you Suspicion equal to both your Potency *and* the number of incorrect guesses you make (so that it’s not just a safe replacement for Mindjacking). i think this will be an important tool in the higher tiers, where you’ll be hearing about low-tier Avatars a lot in the activity reports and not be able to tell whether u can Mindjack them or not.
