Enact a new rule, “Latitudes”:-

Each CIC occupies a Latitude between 1 and 26 inclusive, equal to the position of the first letter of the CIC’s Name in the alphabet. (If the first letter of a CIC’s Name does not appear in the alphabet, its Latitude is instead equal to 1.)

The Distance between two CICs is the absolute difference between their Latitudes.

In “Missiles”, replace “As a Command action, a CIC may target another CIC that they are not currently targeting as long as the new number of targeted CICs does not exceed the amount of Missile resources.” with:-

As a Command action, a CIC may target another CIC that they are not currently targeting as long as the Distance between these two CICs does not exceed the targetting CIC’s Operating Range. (A CIC’s Operating Range is the total of its Military and Science Stats.)

Me and card are in the exact same spot, and on the same team, so against

I don’t know how many times I’ll be able to avoid Bampam like this, but hopefully enough times.

To make matters worse, Dewaldo is also just 1 Lat away from us lol, while the rest of you are spread out to have much more coverage.

Anyone who has more coverage is also within range of more people, though, it’s not a purely beneficial thing.

Using player names just seemed neater than adding a whole extra GNDT column for some one-use random numbers.

as I’ve stated in some other dynasty, using player names is usually not a good idea. also I find it weird that currently I could target 3 people when I only have 2 missile resources.

What’s the problem with using letters from player names? The big decision for a new gamestate variable is whether or not players know what values they’re going to be assigned ahead of enactment, and this seems as good a way to generate them as any.

(It also seems at least slightly interesting that an idle or lurking player can see ahead of time where they’d be positioned if they joined the dynasty - and that if a player needs an ally at a particular position, they might try persuading a particular idle player to return.)

perhaps we could use a randomly generated digit of the name, wrapped around for those who have have short names.

But really, I think the random generation of latitudes is probably the best way to go.

And I’d prefer longitudes and a spread greater than 25.

You’d still get clumps of players if they were randomly generated, you just wouldn’t know where you’d be until it had enacted. Pre-generating means we can vote on whether we’re happy with the spread before we get it. (If it’s looking like an uninteresting spread so far, then fair enough.)

I agree with having a picture of CIC latitudes/longitudes before submitting a vote. Have some amount of unequal distributions makes for a more interesting dynasty.

Fair warning, I am currently 30 divided by 0 which is null. So unless you plan on implementing a way to redistribute the points, I must against

What do you mean? “Total” is addition, not multiplication - your Operating Range is 30.
