Well, “lead” is not quite the right term. You can lead in Stars and still not win if others can get to 3 achievements first, so targeting one person with damaging spells isn’t really a long-term effective strategy. At best, it might slow down someone from getting the High Marks necessary to to get Honor Student.

Also think of it as insurance against the Star leader using damaging spells to keep 2nd and 3rd place Star leaders from taking the lead. They’ll have to think carefully about that.

Masochist seems tacked on here, given that the proposal was prompted (on Discord) by Zack mourning the enactment of Whiteout and saying that they were trying for a low Star count.

It’s hard not to read Masochist as confirmation that we correctly closed a “quickly lose any number of Stars” loophole with Whiteout, and that this proposal would add it back.

I really don’t think there was ever such a loophole, that just sounds like confirmation bias. These are functionally the same as Honor Student/Superstar, and no one seems worried about those.

I genuinely feel like masochist is just too easy to achieve

Superstar is fine in isolation since there’s a clear way to deny someone from getting it, but once Masochist comes into play, it’s a tightrope walk that I just don’t think is fun for most people involved

Wild. It’s that very tightrope that I think would make things more interesting. I’m curious who else would find it less fun.
