Call for Judgment: Louse Removal

Passed 11-2. Reached Quorum. I hope I get the purchased lice right. Enacted by smith.

Adminned at 22 Feb 2006 11:14:40 UTC

Remove all lice except those purchaced at port from circulation.

Restore the following players’ GPS and Motley to their state before the attack of the killer lice:

TheLoneAmigo:

GPS 16(26), Motley: Tricorn Hat, Eyepatch (Right), Hook (Left), Facial Scar, Bar, Barrel of Whale Oil, Cutlass, Blue Beard, Wooden Leg (Right), Parrot

Elias IX:

GPS 16 (19), 2 Cutlasses

Bucky:

GPS 6(6) Motley: Hooch

Personman:

GPS 1 Motley: none

Whether TheLoneAmigo’s formal duel is still alive is a subject for another CfJ written by him if he wants to argue the point.

for I kind of thought mine took care of this by default, but even if it did this doesn’t hurt anything, and makes it clearer for everyone exactly what happens. Hurray!

Wait… did I lose that duel as a result of Lice-hankery, or not? The game log is somewhat confusing.

for Personman:  Your CfJ does not take care of the issue as this one does.  It doesn’t state that it retroatcively fixes the actions that it causes to be illegal.

Hix, if an action is retroactively declared illegal, does that not make it unhappen? I am genuinely curious: what is precedent here?

It seems like if I say something along the lines of “I kill everyone with my ray gun.” it simpy does not happen, since the rules make no provision for it. So if my CfJ passes, and says that it was never legal to get lice from the hold, wouldn’t any lice-from-the-hold-getting actions just not happen, the same way the ray-gun deaths wouldn’t?

against CoV. After thinking this through at a reasonable hour, I’ve got to change my vote on this. I’ve got good reasons, see comments from my CoV in the Lice CfJ.

I’m pretty sure under the rules this CfJ passed as soon as we had quorum. After that point there was no chance for predisastered and bucky to change their votes.

for quorum?

Personman: A CfJ does not automatically go into effect. We have forgotten a CfJ before and then had it resurface a week later. So it is up to the admins to process this in a timely way. As far as the retroactive effects, the way I see it is that anyone is free to undo changes to the gamestate to try to repair the damage, but this may incur a CfJ again if done too unfairly.
