Add a new bullet point to the list in the rule entitled “Vocabulary”:
- In each week, the period from 12.00am on Saturday Morning to 11.59pm on Sunday Night can be referred to as the Seasonal Festival period.
Add the following to the end of the rule entitled “Horoscopes”:
The relative order of Constellations in Birth Signs is significant. A Constellation may occupy one of thee Sign Positions, as follows: the first Constellation in any Townsperson’s Birth Sign is their Distaff Sign, the middle Constellation is their Flax Sign and the final Constellation is their Spindle Sign.
Add a new rule to the ruleset, entitled Readings:
Once during each Seasonal Festival period, the Astrologer should make a Readings post, which should take the format of a story post. The Readings post should set out a Prediction, derived from the lists contained within this rule, for a Townsperson of having each Constellation in each Sign Position. The Astrologer’s method of making these Readings should not be random, but should also not be made public.
Predictions are made up of Conditions and Impacts. When a Townsperson meets the Condition of a Prediction, or if the Condition for the Prediction is global and has been met, then that Townsperson should implement the Impact upon themselves. Some Predictions will have no Conditions. In those cases, any Townsperson may apply the Impact of that Prediction upon any affected Townspersons.
Predictions are valid only in the Season immediately subsequent to the Reading post in which they were made, and cannot have any impact following the end of that Season.
Possible Conditions are as follows. Where a Condition (or Impact, in the following list) contains a value that is listed as X, then that value may be any legal value as set out in the appropriate section of the Ruleset, as determined by the Astrologer’s method of generating Readings.
- If the Season is X
- If the Townsperson [has / has not] a Horoscope that contains Constellation X in X Sign Position
- If the Weather Condition [is / is not] X
- If the Townsperson [has / has not] X as a Thing in their House
- If the Townsperson’s Workplace [is / is not] X
- If Constellation X [is / is not] currently visible in the sky
Possible Impacts are as follows. Some Impacts can only apply to Constellations appearing in Birth Signs in certain Sign :Positions; in these cases, the Sign Positions to which that Impact can apply follow the text of the Impact in bold and in brackets.
- Has no effect.
- Should gain X as a Thing for their House
- Should lose X as a Thing from their House, if they have it
- May change their workplace to X
- May not have the effect of their Workplace applied in the next Day of Observance
- Shall face a Trial Flax
The last two lists need a lot of embellishing. Trials are the idea of something that has a real-world element, which I’m still turning over in my head - but if anyone has any ideas about that I welcome them.
