Proposal: Manuscripting

Self-Killed. (Pending URGENT Deliberation does not meet F-A > 0, can fail.) -RaichuKFM

Adminned at 07 Aug 2016 06:08:19 UTC

If Bucky and RaichuKFM have each scored three times in this dynasty and neither have scored under the rule “[SPK] First Speaker”, roll a DICE2. If the result of the die rule is a 1, Bucky achieves victory. If the result of the die roll is a 2, RaichuKFM achieves victory.

Otherwise add the following text to the rule “[SPK] First Speaker” after the list of a Speaker’s duties:

A Speaker for a Dynasty may modify its page as necessary to perform their duties.

and in the same rule replace

A Speaker’s job is to ensure that the Dynasty’s page in the BlogNomic wiki contains the following information:-

A Speaker’s job is to ensure that the Dynasty’s page in the BlogNomic wiki (or the Manuscript for that Dynasty’s page) contains the following information:-

Stab at a fix for the problem Bucky pointed out.

The bit at the start is because there is a non zero chance that by the time this proposal passes, Brendan will have made another weekly report and Bucky will have scored. This creates an unwanted scenario where whichever of Bucky and Raichu gets on first after this proposal passes and can score under SPK will win which doesn’t seem fair to either of them.

for Yeah, a dice roll seems fair. The one hard part of making a Dynastic history is the playerlist, but I can name more than three off the top of my head: Me, Larry, Purplebeard, nqeron, Murphengineer. So we’d both be done by the time this Proposal passes. 109 is, after all, my first Dynasty.

Sheesh, was that roll lucky.

The easy way to find a partial playerlist is to include everyone whose vote on a proposal you included was counted by an admin.  Finding a complete playerlist is more time-consuming, although there’s a good technique to do so by Quorum-tracking.

That’s a good point. I think I’ve got everyone from my Dynasty, in the new writeup I’ve got saved, and I’ll give a more thorough once-over for scshunt IV, Raichu I, Larry I in a bit. (I’m going to write up Larry I after this, because, why not? I might keep going. This is kind of fun; well, more poring over old Dynasties than writing little things up about them, but it’s a nice excuse.)

against per the blatant disregard for fair play going on in “:)” this feels like the safer move

Bucky contacted me about self killing this proposal for something he is working on. I told him no cause I felt like that level of co-operation between scribes, especially when it comes to self killing proposals, doesn’t make for a fun game.

But then someone proposed a rule that let you score regardless and you and larry both voted for it so I didn’t care as much

It doesn’t work, and I wasn’t cooperating with Sci_Guy in any fashion other than explaining the edit to make it a Proposal was illegal,

But,

Sure, okay.

still don’t see how it doesn’t work. plus you and larry quickly voting for it was suspicious af

One: I’m named RaichuKFM. rAIchukFM. Not rIAchukMF.

Two: Rule 3.3.5. “Within the ruleset, a word only refers to the name of a Scribe if it is explicitly stated that it refers to a Scribe’s name.”

Three: That joke would have added a rule, to the ruleset, that says “[Name] scores”, instead of “The Scribe [Name] scores”, which means it means I no more scores, than “That Debater scores” would mean I scored if I changed my name to “That Debater”.

I guess that rule is kind of obscure? But it’s one I know well, because, it’s come up.

Regarding One: “Scribes may correct obvious spelling and typographical mistakes in the Ruleset and their own Pending Proposals at any time, including replacing Spivak and gender-specific pronouns with the singular “they”.”

Regarding Two: I wasn’t actually aware of this rule

Oh, okay.

Well, suddenly things make a lot more sense.

Heh. Looking at everything that just happened, objectively, it’s kind of a hilarious mess.
