Proposal: Move it Two

Passes 4-0 on timeout—arthexis

Adminned at 05 Oct 2008 19:07:36 UTC

Create sub-rule “Dragon Roar” under rule “Moves”:

The dragon makes a powerful thundering roar that makes its foe tremble. Choose a stat (except Heartbeat) then roll XDICE2, where X is the number of stats (including Heartbeat) that your Dragon has over 10. The chosen stat for the opponents dragon is decreased by that amount. The effect lasts until the end of battle, or until you use Dragon Roar again (whichever happens first).

Create sub-rule “Dragon Throw” under rule “Moves”:

The dragon makes a quick dart forward to grab its enemy and throw it away. Roll 2DICEX where X is your Wings and if the result is greater than your opponent’s Wings, you successfully throw the opponent away, dealing damage equal to the result of the roll plus Muscle minus the opponent’s Scales. Damage dealt by your opponent next turn is halved.

Hopefully these new possible strategies will make the power-training sessions a little less extreme in their battle results.

against .  Dragon roar is okay for encouraging diversity, but Dragon Throw just makes Wings the best stat to pump.

@bucky: The same way Dragon Fangs makes muscle the best stat to pump.

@arth:Throw’s effect seems custom-tailored to hose all non-Wing attacks.  It pwns Fang directly by making it completely useless.  It also forces any Flamers to blow their attack at half face value.  Dragon Claw in response ends up strictly inferior.(1xmuscle vs. wing bonus +1xmuscle)  Dragon Flight, in contrast, is completely unaffected.

Also, the only way to avoid a Throw from a Wing specialist is to pump Wing yourself.  Contrast this to Fang, which merely requires a decent Muscle+Scales to resist (or a preemptive Throw if this passes).

So I feel my complaint about Dragon Throw is justified in the face of its superiority over every other method of offense.

@arth: Still Fang allows up to 3x damage in a single blow (let alone chance of stun) which can easily ko anything in 1/2 turns. I’d rather prefer to add a new effect to Dragon Claw and make all damage from Dragon Flame unpreventable.

Ok, with the next proposal up,
