I think you just might need to carefully re-read the production rules Night. I was a bit confused be them at first as well.

I advise Night to adjust allocation as if they only had 9 points to distribute, and to do so at the soonest opportunity.  Remember that, except for cash, you only get a number of products equal to the square root of the points allocated.

Just re-read the rules and found where it says that Hix.  That line’s buried in there a little, but it does explain better what I’ve been noticing from other player’s inventories.  That is really freakin’ confusing and, in my opinion, a little silly.  But, c’est la vis, such is the game.  :)
