Proposal: Odds On Favorite

Timed out and failed, 1-3 with an unresolved imperial DEF. Josh

Adminned at 30 Sep 2023 17:59:11 UTC

Update the odds of Nomich to be “Odds: 6-to-5 for outcomes where a Participant wins, and 4-to-1 for a Draw”

Update the odds of ClingBoom to be “Odds: 24-to-5 for outcomes where a Participant wins. 15-3 for All Participants die”

Update the odds of Blogbots to be “Odds: 3-to-1 for outcomes where a Participant wins. 4-to-1 for outcome where Participant Wins in Sudden Death. 5-to-1 for All Participants Trashed”

Update the odds of Boxing to be “Odds: 6-to-5 for outcomes where a Participant wins, and 4-to-1 for a Draw”

Apply these updated odds to all future events that are scheduled more than 24 hours from the time this proposal passes to reflect these new odds.

A lot of the odds are currently not really favorable to bet on. I think this should hopefully make every bet a net favorable EV which we kinda want to encourage dynastic gameplay without overly complicating things

Please leave voting open for a bit so people can suggest updated odds.

I’m all for making favorable odds. I’d just rather see them have some basis in actual historical results rather than somewhat arbitrary values. Plus, with the same odds for each Participant, it makes betting on one Participant over the other a wash and therefore not that interesting.

This is why I’ve been trying to iterate over a formula for odds using the Track Record, since we now have that as a means to evaluate past performance as a (very rough) predictor of future outcomes.

Boxing can draw as well.

@Bucky oh good catch I’ll fix that

@JonathanDark

The trait stuff you and Josh are proposing help with that, as it allows people who know stuff about a performer to use that information to their advantage.

Same goes with evaluating past performances. I’d rather reward the people who do that leg work rather than just calculating it into the odds so none of it really matters and we’re all back to picking blindly
