Proposal: Once More Onto the Pitch

Add a subrule to the rule “Form Sheet”, called “Soccer”, and give it the following text:

Potential Participants: Ankh-Morpork United, Twoshirts FC, Pseudopolis, Upper Feltwhistle
Required Participants: 2
Potential Outcomes: X Participant wins; Draw
Meddling (Red Cards): Subtract 1 from each of the Offensive, Defensive, and Midfield Ratings of the Meddled Participant for this Sporting Event only, to a minimum of 1 for each Rating.
Meddling (Own Goals): Whenever the Attacker is the Meddled Participant in the second step of the Method of Resolution, if the Attacker’s Score is not increased by 1, then increase the Defender’s Score by 1.

Method of Resolution:
Each Participant has an Offensive Rating, a Defensive Rating, and a Midfield Rating, shown in the Ratings table below. The Bookie shall designate one Participant as the First and the other as the Second, setting each to have a Score of 0. The Bookie shall use the Ratings of the 2 Participants for the Sporting Event while performing the following steps 6 times:
# Determine which Participant has Possession by secretly randomly choosing a number between 1 and M, where M is the sum of the Midfield Ratings for both Participants. If the result is less than or equal to the Midfield Rating of the First, then the First is the Attacker and the Second is the Defender. Otherwise, the Second is the Attacker and the First is the Defender.
# Determine if the Attacker scores by secretly randomly choosing a number between 1 and S, where S is the sum of the Defensive Rating of the Defender and the Offensive Rating of the Attacker. If the result greater than the Defensive Rating of the Defender, then add 1 to the Score of the Attacker.

After the steps above have been performed 6 times, the Outcome is based on the final values of the Scores. The Participant with the higher Score wins, or if the Scores are the same, it is a Draw.

I figured that if Josh was willing to run a simulation of all the games proposed so far, he would be willing to run a simulation for Soccer. I know so far that the games have referenced actual BlogNomic dynasties in the past and the player or team names from those dynasties.I couldn’t find the references for Soccer, so I pick the team names from another reference that some people may know.

If Josh or someone else would rather have past dynasty teams instead, let me know what those should be for Soccer.

It’s a reference to The First Dynasty of Ayesdeeef, “The Soccer Dynasty”. The players of that dynasty were all players on a single and (I think) unnamed team.

I like this and have no real problem with the names! With ClingBoom I used modified versions of the names of long-idle players. McDefence and McGraft were two NPC names from Ayesdeeef I https://wiki.blognomic.com/index.php?title=Ruleset_122#List_of_Proxies

Mild preference for creating some original team names, though, so that they can become in-house running jokes that we can use again in future dynasties whenever we need a sports team.
