Proposal: Oregon Trail - Second Trip

Amend the rule “The Night” by inserting the following step into the definition of a Sale, immediately after the step They buy their meal and before the step They leave the plaza:

* They eat the meal: The Yard rolls a DICE20 to determine the Active Customer’s reaction, using the following results:

  • 1–2 (inclusive): The Active Customer gets food poisoning. The Truck whose Menu contained the purchased Dish refunds the Price of the Dish by deducting the Price of the Dish from that Truck’s Dollars (to a minimum of $0). The Active Customer returns home and is immediately removed from the Customers list.
  • 3-14 (inclusive): The Active Customer had a normal dining experience and no additional effects are applied.
  • 15–18 (inclusive): The Active Customer experiences a culinary delight and tips the Truck whose Menu contained the purchased Dish. The customer pays a flat Tip of $5 which is added to that Truck’s Dollars.
  • 19–20 (inclusive): The Active Customer becomes a repeat customer. If they are removed from the Customers list during the step They leave the plaza, they are immediately appended to the end of the Customers list.

Replace the following step in the Sale atomic action under the rule “The Night”:

* They leave the plaza: Remove the Active Customer from the list of Customers.

With:

* They leave the plaza: If the Active Customer is present in the Customers list, remove them from that list.

“multiplied by the Multiplier of the Pitch that Truck is occupying” - we don’t yet have a mechanic allowing Trucks to start occupying specific Pitches, so this step won’t be performable if reached. Pitches are just a thing that exist by themselves, at the moment.

Ah. Thanks. I’ll take care of that.

Still an against from me I’m afraid - I just don’t like dice to determine outcomes. There’s enough variance to control for with 11 other players, without a 1-in-10 chance (statistically it will happen to someone every round) that you crash out with nothing

Fair enough. I’d rather that my proposal failed because people disagreed with it than for the reason that I worded it poorly. I wanted to rewrite based on the last round of feedback and consider this practice being a new player here.

Yeah I don’t really want to make this a luck-based game, so I’m going to vote against
