Throughout the ruleset and gamestate, including in all pending proposals, change “duel” to “squabble”.
A duel should only have two participants. What we have here is a good ole fashioned fracas. “Squabble” because I like the idea that no-one actually dies, someone just gets their feels hurt and then we all go back to our little nerd scrolls.
(For context this proposal originally said “brawl”.)
Squabble works, good to have a mystical letter Q in there.
Unfortunately I missed the window for suggesting changes. Not sure I really like the sound of “Wizard Squabble”
To me, the fact that its not really a duel because a duel is between two people and is generally done to the death is part of the charm. But I get that not everyone likes that
What if we went with “Bout”? That way we get a cute little play on words—as in addition to “Bout” meaning “A contest” and “Spell” meaning “A thing you cast”, “Bout” and “Spell” both mean “A short period of illness”
Maybe we should have an ongoing academical subgame of wizards disagreeing on which noun to use.
Squabble doesn’t feel quite impactful enough
(unless the flavor of this dynasty is a bunch of middle aged wizards arguing in their bathrobes, in which case “Squabble” evokes the exact right mental image)
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
