Proposal: Permafrost [Special Case]

Reached quorum 4 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

If the UNSG voted FOR this proposal, set the special case rule “Dynastic Distance” to active.

It’s unclear whether Pokes is actually playing this dynasty competitively, having taken only one game action two weeks ago to set up a base in the Antarctic. Pokes?

I was thinking at the beginning of the dynasty that after my last couple dynasties I deliberately didn’t want to hold any secret information so that I could play. But it’s also hard to play without being unfair to the players. So I’ll take the distance.

[pokes] I think a competitive Emperor dynasty can work if played in two acts (as I think happened in The Eighth Dynasty of Josh): the first half a bit jokingly and in character with the Emperor being confident enough to let some victory mechanisms through, and the second half utterly ruthlessly with the Emperor vetoing anything that erodes their power.

Note that removing you from the EMs will switch off the “If the EM named pokes has achieved victory…” world end mechanic.

An Emperor can play if they choose, but they shouldn’t use their veto power in casual, ie. gameplay, circumstances. Just my opinion. Josh seems to have found a fun way to incorporate the veto, but I’m not about that, personally.

Other than the veto, what advantage is there, other than the fact that you are provably a winner? On the other hand, the emperor role is a chance to take a break from normal gameplay, and maybe try something special. imperial
