Add to the rule “Life in Zahndorf”:

Whenever a villager becomes Dead for any reason, the Mayor will make a story post announcing the fact.

Create a new subrule under “Items” entitled “Poison”:

There are many different types of poison; each type targets a different group of Villagers.
Any living villager who has a poison in his inventory may drink it by informing the Mayor and removing it from his inventory.
The poison has a 3 in 4 chance of killing any villager in its target group and a 1 in 4 chance of killing anyone else.
The Mayor will inform the villager if he survived the poisoning.
An autopsy by the alchemist of the corpse will reveal that the cause of death was poison.

If it is daytime, and he is alive, the apothecary may, as a daily action, create one vial of poison of any type.
If the poison is of a type that has not been produced before, he must inform the Mayor of that poison’s target group, who will not reveal the information to anyone.
The type of poison is tracked on the GNDT, however.

If a werewolf dies from poisoning and the apothecary is not a werewolf, he gains an Acuity point.
If a non-werewolf dies from poisoning and the apothecary is a werewolf, he gains an Acuity point.

As an example: The apothecary can inform the Mayor that Wolfsbane targets werewolves.  He can then create a “Poison:Wolfsbane” item.  If a werewolf drinks the poison, he has a 3 out of 4 chance of dying; if anyone else drinks it they have a 1 out of 4 chance of dying.  If anyone has a clearer way of putting this into rules, I’ll be glad to listen.

Why would anyone drink poison willingly?  Also, you do not explicitly say that drinking the poison causes the chance of death.

Yes, it is unlikely that anyone would drink poison willingly.  Town meetings can be used to force someone to drink poison, or there may be some way later to poison someone else.  I just wanted to get this mechanic out there; it seems like a better route than just lynching random people.

But lynching adds excitement and paranoia and mob mentality.  Anyway, I’m not sure there’s much of a difference between having a town meeting to lynch someone and having a town meeting to make them drink poison?  If no one know who the poison affects, it’s not really much of a litmus test.

imperial There are problems with the wording. As Oracular rufio pointed out, It’s unclear if drinking or simply possessing (or even making) the poison causes death. also, is it intentional that i could create a poison that targets all villagers with names beginning with the letter ‘T’? I do like the idea of awarding extra acuity points for certain actions.

The game of Russian Roulette is always exciting, most of all to the competitors. Could it be added that if after a vote, a game of russian roulette is decided, then the nominated players shall take the poison.  for

you willingly take the poison? so its a suicidal action? i don’t see how this is usefull. against

Can be used for a safer way to test someone for werewolfness. Such as if wolfsbane wont kill a human, only a wrewolf, it’s a safer way to test someone.  It has some randomness too, to make things uneasy for all.

The werewolves wont like the apothacary.

I’m not sure the ruling allows for a town meeting to make someone drink poison… (Can’t study too much at the moment.)

for I like it; the numbers are wide enough to stop it being an effective lynch replacement or an everybody-drink-now test, and it’s good that the Apothecary could be a werewolf.

Don’t like this kind of dice-rolling. against

against Uh…there should be a way to poison another citizen.  What kind of guy would drink poison willingly!?!

We could easily make people drink poison through Town Meeting proposals, or by simply threatening them (“drink this or we’ll propose to lynch you”).

for I guess.

At some point we might have to fix the wording to make it clear that drinking it has the effect, but having thought it all over, I’m going to COV for now:  imperial
