Again this is not… technically a request?

I know the core rules say a request must be made and that an admin probably has to go flip a switch somewhere to turn someone officially idle…but isn’t requiring someone to ask to be idle like requiring me to ask you for permission before I leave my house?

Even if an admin were to refuse, the player would go idle anyway. The response to the request is meaningless. To me, an announcement really does seem more appropriate.

Better yet, players ought to be able to change the status themselves since no one else is really in control of this.

Sure, but technology is a limitation here. Maybe something to look into in the Wordpress era.

It’s a meaningful distinction as it affects quorum; Faright going idle changes quorum from 7 to 6, and quorum being different for the next seven days could have a big impact on the game, such as this recently-failed proposal that would have passed if quorum were 6.

Changing the rule from “ask” to “state” feels like a smart move, but it doesn’t solve the current problem.

*Farsight, not Faright. I don’t know anything about anyone’s politics and would hate to imply otherwise.
