Proposal: Priorities!

Reaches Quorum 10-3-1 and Passes. -RaichuKFM

In the rule entitled “The Final Frontier”, change the text “any other actions before completing this action” to read “any other actions (aside from those defined by the core rules) before completing this action”.

There doesn’t seem to be a good reason why you have to move before you can propose or vote.

against The restriction only comes into effect once you start jumping. It’s just there to clarify that you can’t perform any actions in the sectors you pass through.

for No reason not to exempt the core rules, I’d rather not see the game frozen by a scam or accident that makes it illegal to end a Jump.

for Eh, fair enough.

I’m reading that rule differently from Purplebeard, I think. Am I being over-sensitive or is it ambiguous?

Full sentence for context: “As a Daily Action, A Captain may Jump a number of times no greater than their Speed and may not perform any other actions before completing this action.”

I think it’s fine because it’s all wrapped up in the daily action: the player chooses to take the action of “do these things and also refrain from performing other actions until I complete them”. If it had been a separate sentence of “A Captain may not perform any other actions until this action has been completed.” we’d be in trouble now, but I think we’re okay as it is.

Kevan, Josh:

There’s also some ambiguity in terms of what it means “completing this action”.  Does this mean “taking this action this turn”, “initiating and then finishing this action”, “performing this action”, or something else?

for This is fine unless Proposals get altered by Position or something.

against I don’t think there’s a reason to break the atomicity of a jump and risk something fancy happening (what about a Captain Jumping once, Idling, and Jumping again?)

against It seems to me that the current rules make it impossible to get stuck mid jump - jump’s are instantaneous as they occur the moment you input the location of where you’re going into GDNET. The only conflict occurs when you are interested in performing a series of jumps, and I’m in favor of making people first complete their series of jumps before doing anything else, forcing them to commit to a final position for the day before doing anything else.
