Proposal: Proposal: The Gift Of Sight

3-6, timed out. Failed by Elias IX.

Adminned at 18 Dec 2005 16:46:19 UTC

Hopefully a simple addition of function wihout much utility.

Add rule:

When a Command includes the word “look”, the Result of that Command must begin with the the words “Gazing around, you see” immediately followed by the Description of room that the Protagonist who has added the Command is currently within.

If Proposal: Goose Steps passes, add a new rule:

When a Protagonist’s Location has been changed as the result of a Command, the next Result must contain both the name of the Location that they have been moved to, and the Description corresponing to that Location.

I like it, but I’m worried about the amount of clutter that’ll occur due to the necessary inclusion of the Location Description on *every* move. Maybe only require that on the first move to that location? It’s minor, though. Purely stylistic, almost. Nothing that can’t be easily fixed later. for

Strongly against as, were this Rule to be enacted, it would cause an immediate contradiction as the one existing Thread has a Command “look grue” that contains the word “look” but doesn’t start with “Gazing around, you see”, without also updating the state of that Thread. Contradictions are _bad_.

Oog, good point Saurik.  against
That will either have to grandfathered in in a new proposal or somebody could just delete it.

against  doesn’t this mean that every time someone moves, they have to update the wiki?

yuk.

Cayvie: No. Only if they move as the result of a Command. If Goose Steps, for example, were to be enacted, then Commands would not be used to perform movement.

against for reasons above.  Also, flavorwise, I don’t think it should matter who edits the thread.  It would be weird if two consecutive “> look around” commands resulted in descriptions of different rooms.
