Proposal: Putting the Roses back in the Wars of the Roses

Add the following to the end of “Family Matters”:

Each family’s Dignity is equal to the average of its members’ dignity (rounding down to the nearest integer). If a Noble’s dignity is more than 5 greater than their family’s then their dignity is Tarnished by Association and is reduced by 1 when time advances (consequently, their family’s dignity may also be reduced).

Families are currently useless. This rule would add a sense of collective responsibility to families. Then we can add mechanics that allow families to work together to achieve the Crown.

against No, because the Family’s Dignity shouldn’t be harmed by having any outstanding members, and this could interact poorly with the proposed Dignity gain based on Titles.

against Also, it makes no sense for someone with more dignity to be Tarnished.

I retract that comment. It does make sense, but I’m still not in favor of this rule.
