Proposal: Quick Draw

Fails 1-7 with Quorum Against -Larrytheturtle

Add a subsection to “Islands”:

Pillaging

If two or more hunters are co-located on the same island, any single hunter on the island may deduct (PILLAGE) one Piece from each of the other co-located hunters and add the sum of the Pieces to the value of the PILLAGING hunter’s Pieces. This action may occur once per day and shall be tracked in the GNDT.

Hopefully this facilitates hunter movement and serves as a basis for giving value to Pieces.

Note: “once per day” meaning “each Hunter may Pillage once per day” or “at most one Pillaging can happen every day”?

Further clarification will be needed. The most liberal interpretation (each hunter can pillage once per day) is the intended reading. I can see how this could be interpreted as “Only one act of pillaging may occur per day throughout the game.” Changing “This action may occur once per day…” to “This action may occur once per hunter per day” would fix this.

There’s no point in making everyone hit the Pillage button every single day when the net result is nothing happening.  This just punishes Hunters who take breaks.

Bucky, on the contrary, it rewards hunters who are actively playing. I thought of adding some degree of chance/randomness to the proposal using DICE but figured I would lay the groundwork.

against Punishing those who take breaks and rewarding the active are the same thing; it’s all a matter of perspective.

against There’s some interesting complexity here (if Hunter X is clearly asleep, I could sail over to pillage them down to zero, but someone else could follow to pillage both them and me), but it ultimately feels a bit zero-sum. (The next day, I pillage back and sail away.)

(Note that we’ve got a “daily action” definition in the ruleset to foil the trivial “once per day” sometimes-scam of doing something at 11:59pm and again at 12:01am.)

Kevan, would some clause to prevent next-day retaliation make this more convincing? What about something along the lines of preventing one hunter from being attacked multiple times/day?
