Proposal: Removing the wrench before it all locks up

Add the following to the end of “Working Together”

If a Criminal has had annother Criminal in their former partners list for the entire span of the last seven days, the first Criminal may remove the second Criminal from their former partners list.

This prevents everything from completely locking up, lets people at least play the dynsaty with only a few friends even if they probably won’t power game, and remains within the dynasty theme (after a while the popo lose track of who you’ve worked with).

against Kinda ruins the whole point - the idea is to allow cooperation without resorting factions quite so much - you can always clear your former partner’s list via stealing an identity.

Only if you have no heat. You also need three friends willing to work with you if you want to get anything done (friend A to clear your list, friend B to do something, friend C to then clear your list again and become the new friend A).

Of course, even that is not substainable as A B and C will need their own set of friends to clear their lists.

There is just too much communication needed for this dynasty to work. We can either accept that and work towards keeping the same basic mechanic in a way that works now, or wait two weeks and I can say told you so.

against I’ll insist with the jail mechanics as the alternative way of clearing one’s list.

Proto-fix: Allow a Criminal with H>0 Heat to Steal an Identity by rolling DICE(H+1); on a 1 it works, on a 2 it increases their Heat by 1 instead.

and on anything else it does neither.

The heat requirement isn’t really the problem. Its getting enough people willing to help you.

@Clucky communication is the whole point of the dynasty. If you feel like it takes to much effort, streamline the communication aspect - don’t throw it out. I’m willing to take an “I told you so.”

@Murphy, ais said he would veto randomness if I recall correctly.

Communication would still be the point of the dynasty. In order to do anything at all, you’d still need friends. The issue is that in the current form the only want to do anything at all is to do an exessive amount of communication. People should be still able to play blognomic if they can’t be on IRC for 3 hours each day.

against The policemen won’t lose their suspicions after time passes. Time is not a factor to determine if it is safe to work with the same criminal again.

(My vote is purely to make sense with the theme, I don’t have much of a friend network on Blognomic and will probably have a hard time clearing my Former Partner list, as Clucky said. Other mechanics will be implemented, hopefully.)

veto This is basically sneaking in weeklies via the back door. Also, it makes lists much too easy to clear.

Also, what’s to stop you communicating on the blog? PMs exist, you know. So do blog comments, for public agreements.
