How do we send messages to each other without Expression Engine? Thanks!

I’m not sure what you’re asking there. You can email some users by clicking “email” on their profile page, or you can see if they’re on the Slack channel. Why do you not want to use Expression Engine?

I don’t want to email people directly. I want to email them on the site like we used to.

Nothing’s changed. You can email users by clicking “email” on their profile page, unless they’ve unticked “Accept email from other members of this site” for whatever reason.

Wait, but I don’t see the button to access Expression Engine the way I used to.

The sidebar “Compose a Message” link removed recently because I didn’t think anyone was using it, it seemed easy to confuse with “Make a New Post” (I was still clicking it myself sometimes when I wanted to “compose” a new post) and nobody objected. Should we put it back?

You can click on somebody’s username on a blog comment or in the sidebar, if you want to send them a private message.

I used to use the “compose a message” link, but clicking on the username is actually easier, so there’s no great loss there if you know how site functionality works.

We could do with an FAQ for people who don’t know, though.
