Make these changes to both the main and shadow rulesets

Add “The Round Number is publicly tracked on the gamestate tracking page and defaults to 4”

In “The Break-In” replace

If any Burglar who Encountered no Guards during this atomic action is holding at least one Artifact, increase the Successes of all Burglars by one, including Sidelined Burglars; otherwise, increase the Successes of all Guards by 1, including Sidelined Guards.

against I might have been in favour of this sort of proposal if it were made earlier, but don’t agree with making such a substantial change after it’s already become clear who is ahead and who is behind.

games that are basically impossible for most players to possibly win will be a lot less interesting

this gives everyone a fighting chance even if they got unlucky to be stuck on the wrong team in the first three rounds

Being on the “wrong team” isn’t pure luck – it’s possible to make it the right team. In general, if the rules are unfairly tilted against the team a particular player happens to be on, and that player wants to try to win the dynasty, I would expect that player to point out the unfairness; I hope that the other players would be receptive to that sort of suggestion.

The issue with ensuring that everyone has a fighting chance at all points of a dynasty is that it means that it is hard to gain much of an advantage through good play, and that in its own right makes the gameplay uninteresting – if there is no incentive to do well then there is no point in trying to find the optimal strategy.

That said, this proposal doesn’t go to quite that extent (although the first round should probably start at a higher number than 1, otherwise the last couple of rounds become too dominant).
