Proposal: Scandal without Manners

Timed Out. Fails 2-6—Clucky

Adminned at 13 Mar 2021 21:09:33 UTC

Add the following to the end of the rule “Ethics of the Nobility”:

An Elector with a Faction of “-” and positive Scandal is a Parvenu. For the purpose of calculating Political Heft, a non-Outcast Parvenu’s Political Power is reduced by their Scandal, to a minimum of one.

Does this do anything? The only person with a Faction of “-” is Darknight and they don’t have a positive scandal.

It’s filling a gap where a member of a “-” faction currently avoids all consequences of their Scandal.

A person with a faction of - also can’t win, until they come off the fence

Bucky:

Why not? I don’t see any restriction on the factionless posting DoVs.

Given one can never switch their faction to -, as - does not appear on the list of legal factions… I’m still not sure this is really needed.

@Bucky Because if this bit

The Doge will then disclose which Electors are in the same Secret Faction as the Elector who posted the DoV, and the Political Hefts of each Elector in that Secret Faction. One of the named Electors is randomly selected by the Doge, with each Elector’s chance of being selected being proportionate to their relative Political Heft, and a new Dynasty begins in which the Elector who was selected becomes the Doge.

The factionless aren’t considered to have the same secret faction as anybody, including themselves, so can’t get victory share on anyone else’s DoV and can’t even be eligible to win on their own DoV (which would resolve with no legitimate candidates to win - which is a separate big to solve I guess)

What’s “non-Outcast” referring to?

Oh, should that be Ostracised?

@Josh
  Just because someone’s Factionless doesn’t mean they’re also Secret Factionless.

imperial Can we just make anyone without a faction a Patrician so even if they post a DoV or win with a secret faction, they still have no chance of winning the victory lottery?

imperial Bit niche.

I’m going to flip to against , partly because of the Outcast/Ostracised thing, partly because I don’t see a massive use case for it, partly because I don’t really like carrying more DEFs than there are actual votes, and partly because I don’t want to have to automate it in the secret gamestate.
