Proposal: Secret Society Missions

Times out 8-9 with 4 arrows. Fails, and no PP for me. - lilomar

Adminned at 02 Aug 2010 16:28:50 UTC

To the end of the rule “We Are Not Alone”, add the text:

Subrules of subrules of this rule describe Missions for the groups to which they are a subrule. Missions must be in the form of an IF-THEN statement, with IF and THEN capitalized, with the ‘IF’ clause being the ‘trigger’ and the ‘THEN’ clause being the ‘reward’.

Add a subrule to “Sequel Police”, titled “Gotta’ catchem all!” with the text:

IF a member of the Secret Police makes a post containing only the phrase “Criminal Underground Members:” and a list of the Designations of all members of The Criminal Underground (and no other Designations), THEN the Citizen who made that post gains one Perversity Point and three Commendations, and this subrule is repealed.

Add a subrule to “Remulak, A Small Town In France”, titled “Extend the Hive Mind” with the text:

IF The Alien Subversives has more members than any other group, THEN no Citizen who is not a member of The Alien Subversives may Achieve Victory.

Add a subrule to “Do Or Do Not; There Is No Try”, titled “Integrate ourselves into the power structure.” with the text:

IF a member of The Rebel Usurpers ever has a higher Clearance Level than the Clearance Level of all other Citizens, THEN they may Promote members of The Rebel Usurpers to their Clearance Level.

Add a subrule to “The Christian League Had The Seedy Underbelly Shut Down”, titled “Nice police force ya got there. It’d be a shame if anything were to happen to it.” with the text:

IF all members of The Secret Police have a clone number greater than 3, THEN no Citizen who is not a member of The Criminal Underground may Achieve Victory.

I love the idea; I don’t love the missions quite as much.

Hgguy-R, feel free to propose your own missions to be added. Or, if that would give away too much about what group you are in, send them to me and I will post them (when I get an open slot).

Keba:

for, but the missions are not *that* innovative.

imperial because the mission for the Rebel Usurpers requires the person carrying out the promotion to have access to hidden knowledge.

coppro, if someone promotes someone else illegally, lilomar can always CFJ.

also, actually, the High-Programmer is a citizen and probably will retain Ultraviolet Clearance level, meaning that the condition will never be met.

Keba:

[coppro] The High Programmer is not a Citizen for the purpose of the Rule “We are not alone”.

lilomar:

coppro: they all require secret knowledge (that’s part of the point). Also, citizen Keba is correct, for the purposes of these rules, I am not a Citizen.

@lilomar: Yeah, I get that. And the problem is that the Rebel one requires a player to act on secret knowledge without ever confirming that knowledge. The two win condition ones are easily revealed by the High-Programmer if someone makes a DoV, while the last involves an accusation that can confirmed or denied. But the Rebel condition involves a Rebel taking an action which may or may not be legal depending on the circumstances.

arrow  Hmmmm, I like the concept, and I even think the missions are decent, but it needs work. For example, if I were a member of the Secret Police and I produced a completely fictitious list of members of the Underground, it could be argued that that would still fulfill the requirements of the mission. Also, these missions do not encourage the Aliens and the Criminal Underground to seek out the identity of others as much as the missions of the other two groups do. against However, if the missions are improved, I will vote yes.

against Needs explicit mechanics for the High-Programmer to confirm or deny secret information.
