Proposal: Sidebets

Add a sub-rule of Plaques titled “Side Bet”:
Each Gambler has a Stake, an integer defaulting to zero, and a Backer, which is either a Gambler or “None”, defaulting to None. The Stake and Backer are tracked together on The Wheel wiki page in the Gamblers table under the heading “Backing”.
At any time, a Gambler (the Setter) may increase the Stake of a Gambler, which also changes that Gambler’s Backer to the Setter.
In “Plaques”, change “Sweep the Board by increasing the High Roller’s Plaques by 1, and setting all Gamblers’ Points to zero.” to
Sweep the Board by:
* Increasing the High Roller’s Plaques by 1,
* Setting all Gamblers’ Points to zero,
* Increasing the Annoyingness of the High Roller’s Backer by 3,
* For each Gambler, decreasing the Points of their Backer by their Stake, and then setting their Backer to None and their Stake to 0.
Maybe too complicated, but a mechanism for bidding points in the next round for annoyingness if your gambler wins the plaque.

That also could be seen as adding an incentive to spin or sweep.

Ah, I didn’t see the Slack conversation.
There’s definitely an incentive to Spin and Sweep, and I think it’s too big: it pushes both “spin the wheel” and “react immediately to spinning the wheel” onto the sharp end of the first nanosecond of the Due Date, and will be messy.
I doubt anyone would volunteer to start the bidding with “a fair price” on every player who’s within a throw of a Plaque, every turn. Especially not when I know that the Spinner will have the option of outbidding me by 1 after seeing the results of the throw (and leaving me to pay the Stake if the throw was a bad one).
