Proposal: Simplification, Take 2

Reaches quorum 10 votes to 1. Enacted by Kevan.

Change the text

Whenever a Gladiator Dies, it causes a set of other Gladiators to receive a Frag. Frags should not be gained in any other way. The set is empty by default, but Gladiators are added to the set if a Rule says they are Awarded a Frag for that Death.

to

A Gladiator gains 1 Frag when a rule says they are Awarded a Frag.

from the rule titled “Death and Scorekeeping”.

This keeps the suicide precaution, the multiple frag for one death precaution, and the definition of awarded a frag.  It just removes the awful set wording.

for Although the sentence seems a bit pointlessly tautological.

Kevan: Yeah, it could probably just be deleted. If “Awarded a frag” is undefined, the normal english definition would hold, and I think most would agree that being awarded something means that you get it.

Yes, but I was mainly responding to arguments in the last proposal that argued that the phrase would no longer be defined if that was taken out.  Just trying to remove any and all reasons to vote against this (unless you just really like sets).

against because it loses the “Frags should not be gained in any other way”.

@Bucky: So? If someone wants to make a rule to allow Frags to be gained in another way, it will win out because of prioritisation.  And if not, the rule will do nothing.  Either way, an explicit rule against gaining Frags without a kill doesn’t seem to accomplish much.

Bucky: That sentence was a “should” anyways, which means it is not required at all and therefore can be taken out with no effect whatsoever.
