Proposal: Slipping out the Back

Create a subrule of Teams and Targets called Rogues {I}:

Each non-Mastermind may have a Characteristic of Rogue. Participants who have the Rogue Characteristic are known as Rogue Participants. Non-Mastermind Participants can freely add or remove their own Rogue characteristic as they wish, with the exception that if they have a Triumphs of 0, they automatically lose it and cannot gain Rogue for as long as they still have a Triumphs value of 0.

Rogue Participants’ Targets are considered to be legal values for that Participant so long as they were obtained legally, even when a Mastermind ceases to have that Target.

When a Participant ceases to be Rogue, if they have a Target not shared with any Mastermind, they lose their Target. If they lose their Target in this way and have a focus of *, their Focus becomes 0.

As a Daily Communal Action, any Participant may Roll Call: For each Rogue who has a target, if that target is not shared by a Mastermind, reduce that Rogue’s triumphs by 1.

Replace the bullet points in Teams and Targets and their introductory sentence with:

Any non-Rogue Participant with a Target that is present as a word in the ruletext may perform the following actions simultaneously:
* Remove all Targets from all non-Rogue Participants;
* Increase by 1 the Triumphs count of each non-Rogue Participant whose Target appeared as a word in the ruletext immediately before this set of simultaneous actions was performed.
* For each non-Rogue Participant with a focus of *, set their focus to 0.

This is based on ais’ and Habanero’s suggestions. Thanks both.

This should probably do something to Rogues who run out of Triumphs (presumably losing their targets)? Apart from that, this looks good.

This could also be a Characteristic (if we are serious about reducing rule text where we can)

Both fixed.

I’m not sure you explicitly need to say that Rogue can be a Characteristic – the Reputation rule allows any Characteristic as it is, and it’s weird to define it twice.
