Proposal: Slow Death

Add the following to the beginning of Slug of Death’s movement rules:

The Slug of Death’s Position may not be changed if a Snail has not made any Moves in the Ongoing Snail.

In Slug of Death’s extra effects, replace “Other Snails may not move if the Slug of Death’s position is greater than theirs” with

If all Snails have made a Move in the Ongoing Race, then Snails whose Position is less than the Slug of Death’s Position may not make Moves.

This hopefully ensures that everyone gets to actually play in each race

I disagree with this idea. The “abuse” of the Slug of Death was being able to change its Position outside of its regularly-occurring Crawl. With that part fixed in “Use Magnets for Faster Acquirement”, there is no longer any abuse.

This Proposal would remove the one purpose of the Slug of Death in the first place: to encourage Snails to eventually make a Move or be stuck. Nerfing it like this puts us back in the “everyone wait for everyone else”.

Every Snail *will* get a chance to play, but if they are absent too long, they will miss that chance. I think that the on-average 48 hours it will take for the Slug of Death to overtake Snails at the Starting Line is generous enough.

If you can’t make a Move within 48 hours, this dynasty is not for you.

To follow up on that, if 48 hours is still insufficient, set the Slug of Death’s starting Position back further than -10cm to give folks more time, if that’s really the issue. But don’t let non-participants delay the Race for everyone else.

I have to admit that I hadn’t read Use Magnets for Faster Acquirement at all
